Marcela Agoncillo and the Philippine Flag

Simplicio's mother was an Agoncillo, making him a first cousin to Felipe Agoncillo, the husband of Marcela. Although not as well known as the other names of the Revolution, Felipe was a patroit, the first ambassador of the fledgling nation to plead its cause before the U.S. Congress. One of Simplicio's nieces, Maria Agoncillo, was married to Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, the first President of the Philippine Republic. As a family, the Agoncillos were very close to the Orosas and there were numerous Ninongs and Ninangs traded between the two. So there.
